In some instances, difficulties in interactions between members of a family unit act as a strong trigger for the problems faced by our clients. The emotional build up from disappointments, to buried resentment and anger, disagreements and expectations can create intense emotional responses in a client.
The manifestation of such issues in a family unit can affect the functioning of individual family members which may require therapeutic interventions. This happens in instances of family structure changes, illness or loss, dysfunctional patterns or behaviours, financial concerns and other elements which affect the family dynamic.
Family Therapy allows a family members to work together and address these concerns and improve the dynamic of their interactions. Family therapy involves working with systemic interactions in terms of communication, behaviour patterns and implicit rules of engagement. It is usually a brief form of psychotherapy which addresses the specific concerns of the family and their dynamics as a unit.
Do note Mind Wellness Therapy will be providing Family Therapy Sessions from March, 2016 onwards.
