The way we view ourselves is something that people struggle with from time to time. This perspective can get distorted based on messages we receive from individuals around us or our own inner critic that believes that we are lacking in some way.

These perspectives can consciously or unconsciously become a filter with which individuals then view themselves and the world around them. This usually results in a person viewing themselves as “I am not good enough” in relation to one or more aspects of themselves. Such messages are powerful and can give rise to feelings of inadequacy, guilt, depression and even self-harm.

Such feelings and patterns can be managed once an individual is given a safe space to explore them and understand their origins. This is where the counselling process would help to demystify any distorted perceptions and create an acceptance of the self without judgement.
