Social Anxiety involves fear or anxiety of social situations in which the individual maybe scrutinized by others. This usually stems from an innate fear of scrutiny and judgement by others and when strong enough can impact an individual’s ability to function in daily life.

Social Anxiety can be brought on by experiences when an individual has faced negative judgment on their actions in social situations. This sets the precedent for social anxiety, as the fear of judgement causes the individual to avoid social situations altogether.

Therapy for Social Anxiety would involve addressing the fears of social interactions and developing strategies to allow a client to manage their anxiety in such situations.
